Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a holistic healing approach that involves the treatment of soft tissues in the body, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue, to promote relaxation, relieve tension, and enhance overall well-being. The techniques used in massage therapy can vary widely, ranging from gentle strokes in Swedish massage to more intense pressure in deep tissue massage, depending on the client's preferences and therapeutic goals
What Can a Massage Therapist Help You With?
When recovering from an injury seeking the right treatment can make all the difference in your journey back to health. Injuries that are commonly treated by massage therapists include:
-
muscle sprains & strains
-
sore back
-
whiplash
The primary goal of massage therapy is to address physical discomfort, tension, or stress experienced by the client. This can range from muscle soreness and stiffness to chronic pain conditions. Through skilled touch, massage therapists can help reduce muscle tension, increase blood flow, improve circulation, and enhance the body's natural healing processes.
Registered vs Non-Registered Massage Therapists:
A registered massage therapist (RMT) refers to a massage therapist who has passed board exams administered by, and is in good standing with, the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia. This recognition allows these therapists to provide massage treatments that are recognized by health insurance companies, ICBC, and WorkSafeBC.
Non-registered Massage Therapists are not members of the College of Massage Therapist of BC, and therefore insurance companies, ICBC, and WorkSafe will typically not re-imburse or pay for their treatments.
